The centrifuge runs unchecked. Value flies to the rim and concentrates at the dead centre — and nobody stops it, because nobody can see it.
Nobody dies spectacularly. The median life gets a little worse every quarter, and every quarter the dashboard says we're fine. That gap — between a civilisation technically growing and experientially compressing — is the centrifuge. It never stops.

🍕🍕1️⃣ concentrated. Across hundreds of regions, the more intense the AI, the lower the labour share of income. Capital is winning. It isn't close.
👷👷1️⃣ ≫ 👷4️⃣. Roles destroyed faster than made. Not fired — un-hired. The ladder loses its bottom rungs first, so no one new can climb.
💰💰3️⃣ sleepwalk. No one decided intelligence should be priced in dollars against human wages. It happened by default, while everyone watched the capex.
🌡️🌡️ the sort. Three classes form. The third cannot tell it is being sorted, because noticing requires the exact capacity it is losing.
the law of devaluation
Every tool devalues its own domain by a few per cent a cycle. Five per cent is a rounding error — beneath notice, beneath outrage. Compounded across a decade, the rounding error is the inequality. A century of accreted dignity in a craft, gone before anyone names the loss, because the loss never arrived as an event. It arrived as a slightly worse Tuesday, again and again.
crystal & evaporation
Some work melts into the moment it is given — the nurse's hour, the carer's, the teacher's — and is paid once, if at all. Some work freezes into an object that pays forever. But the crystal forms upstream, in a vault the worker never held a key to. The Drift is simply the world that rewards the freezing and forgets the melting — and lets the gap between them widen until it is a cliff.
Service is my time melting into your life. Crystal is my time frozen into a thing that pays someone — maybe not me — forever.
digital feudalism, at walking pace
A small class holds the crystals. A large class evaporates. The measured middle — mobile, credentialed, paid for skill — thins to a line and then to nothing. The maps still read growth; the ground reads otherwise; and the people standing on the ground are told, gently, quarterly, that the maps are the territory now.
The Drift is not a catastrophe. It is a temperature —
the equilibrium a system finds when no one resists it.
It wins for one reason only: resistance has to be built,
and drift is free.
The tool will never be a throne. The dials are in your hands. For now.
